Beginner Courses

INTRODUCTION TO GUITAR- Introduction to the guitar for beginners. You’ll learn how to hold the instrument, placement of your hands and fingers, tuning, first position chords, and pick and strumming techniques that will have you playing songs in the first lesson. It includes an introduction to reading notes, tablature, chord diagrams, and chord charts so that you can play tons of songs from sheet music independently! 


Intermediate Courses

INTERMEDIATE GUITAR- Learn bar and upper position chords as well as major and minor scales up and down the neck.  These will be applied to playing pop, country, rock, standards, and folk songs. You’ll explore rock and blues progressions, improvising solos, advanced strumming styles and an introduction to fingerpicking. You’re on your way to becoming a real guitar player!

ROCK AND BLUES IMPROVISATION- Learn minor and major pentatonic, blues and blended scales in all keys and positions and how to use them with standard rock and blues chord progressions. We’ll cover blues and rock “licks” and study solos by the greats including BB King, Eric Clapton, Jim Hendrix, Jimi Page, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Not only will you never hear another rock or blues solo and wonder how they did it, but you’ll know how to play it!

READING MUSIC FOR GUITAR- Based on your skill level and background you’ll learn basic to advanced reading skills from first to upper positions. Reading of standard notation, lead sheets, tablature, and chord charts in all styles of music are covered with an emphasis on sight-reading. This is the key to opening the door to playing an endless number of songs.

FINGERPICKING STYLES- Basic to advanced fingerpicking techniques applied to folk, country, pop, and soft rock repertoire. You’ll learn the most popular fingerpicking patterns used by the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Still and Nash, Ed Sheeran the Beatles, Taylor Swift, James Taylor, and more. This enchanting and beautiful guitar technique will have you sounding like a pro.

INTRO TO CLASSICAL GUITAR- An introduction to classical guitar technique and reading standard notation applied to beginning classical guitar repertoire. You’ll learn the proper way to hold the guitar, positions for your right and left hand, and how to get different sounds out of the instrument by the way you strike the strings. Welcome to the beautiful and captivating world of the classics, once you enter you may never leave!


Advanced Courses

JAZZ IMPROVISATION- Learn major, minor, blues, pentatonic, diminished, augmented, chromatic, and altered scales, modes, and arpeggios in all positions and how to practically apply them to jazz progressions and key changes. You’ll explore the language of jazz by studying standard jazz licks and analyzing solos from some of the greats like Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, and others. This is where you get serious about guitar playing and your understanding of music grows in leaps and bounds.

JAZZ CHORDS, INVERSIONS AND CHORD MELODY- Major, minor, embellished, altered, diminished, and augmented chords in all positions and inversions as well as chord substitutions and their application to jazz, standards, and pop repertoire. Explore the theory and techniques that will allow you to create beautiful arrangements with lush harmonies. An amusement park for your ears, you’ll never hear or play music the same.

APPLIED MUSIC THEORY- Learn the practical application of music theory to playing guitar. An organized course that breaks down the theory of scales, intervals, chords, inversions, chord progressions, improvisation, and transposition—and teaches you how to apply these musical concepts to improve your playing. You’ll understand why music sounds the way it does and gives you the power to play and listen intelligently.

PERFORMANCE CLASS- Ever wonder why after practicing a song or piece by yourself over-and-over again until it’s flawless that when you finally perform it for other people it all falls apart? Performing is a learned skill that is as important as learning your instrument, including singing. This course will give you multiple opportunities to perform for a group and receive immediate feedback. You’ll be taught tips and skills that will have you on the road to performing like a pro!
